Wait For It

I’ve been doing this gardening thing for a while now AND YET.  Every time I plant seeds, there’s this moment: a breath, a pause of anticipation and doubt.  Will the seeds sprout this time?  Will it work?  I’ve had enough experiences with the adorably fluffy bunnies in my yard coming and performing magic disappearing tricks on my seedlings.  I know that other critters eat seedlings too, like cabbage loopers and squirrels.  Then there are the birds who come along and take seeds away as a snack.  I’ve learned to cover my newly planted seeds with a cloth or cloche, and even when I fully protect from every external threat, sometimes those seeds just don’t feel like germinating when it’s a couple degrees hotter or cooler than they prefer.  Or they won’t sprout if I don’t keep them moist enough.  And there was that time I planted too deep and they did nothing.

But when they do sprout, and you get to see them start to grow, grow, grow!  It feels like a miracle every. Single. Time.

Starting from seeds instead of buying starter plants is waaaaay more economical, but it’s also a lot harder. Working with a Garden Coach makes the learning curve much gentler. Reach out if you’d like to learn how to start from seed!
